Sherpur: A farmer drowned in a beel (water body) at Kamarchar in Sadar upazila of Sherpur on Sunday morning.

The victim is Osman Miah, 50, son of Rajab Ali of Charbabna village under Charmucharia union of the upazila.

Chairman of the union Khurseduzzaman said Osman drowned in the Sukramdi Beel due to onrush of flood water while he was cleaning jute.
