S Korean investors urged to invest in Bangladesh

Dhaka: Dhaka Chamber of Commerce and Industry (DCCI) President Hossain Khaled on Thursday urged the Korean investors to invest in Bangladesh as the country is a land of huge investment potentials.

‘Bangladesh has an emerging market of RMG, textile, leather, shipbuilding, pharmaceuticals, IT and ICT sector,’ he said urging the Korean investors to invest in Bangladesh in the form of FDI or joint ventures.  

The DCCI chief had discussions on the issues at a business to business (B2B) meeting with a visiting Korean delegation at the DCCI.  

Leader of the Korean delegation Ma Seung-Rok was present. Six South Korean companies and 50 Bangladeshi companies participated in the B2B.  

Director General of KOTRA, Dhaka, a state-funded trade and investment promotion organization operated by the government of South Korea, Jinhak Hur was also present.  

Jinhak Hur said Bangladesh is a potential market for Korean used machinery and to expedite marketing of Korean used machinery, KOTRA will extend its cooperation to both Bangladeshi and Korean businessmen.  

In November last year, another B2B meeting was held in Korea where 11 Bangladeshi companies took part and showed their keen interest to use Korean used machinery.  

Jinhak Hur said exchange of these used machinery will help boost production and bilateral trade between Bangladesh and South Korea.

Hossain Khaled Bangladesh government offers attractive incentive and packages for the foreign investors specially investing in the economic zones.  

He said DCCI would extend its cooperation to find out potential Bangladeshi partners to match with the Korean investors including relocating industries to Bangladesh.

DCCI’s Senior Vice President Humayun Rashid, Vice President K. Atique-e-Rabbani, Directors AKD Khair Mohammad Khan, Salim Akhter Khan, S Rumi Saifullah and Secretary General AHM Rezaul Kabir were also present on the occasion.
