Chittagong: Coast Guards Members in a drive arrested 24 alleged pirates from Tengarchar area in Sandwip upazila in Chittagong on Thursday night.

The identities of the arrestees could not be ascertained yet. All of them were members of infamous pirate gang ‘Alauddin Bahini’.

Tipped off, a team of Coast Guard members conducted a drive in the area and arrested them at about 9:00pm, said Bangladesh Coast Guard’s East Zone officer, Lieutenant Commander Omar Faruk.

They also recovered some sharp weapons, 2500 meters of current nets and two engine run boats from their possession.
