Chittagong: Three people were killed and two others injured as a utility vehicle plunged into a roadside ditch at Monshar Tek in Patiya upazila in Chittagong early on Friday.

Two of the deceased are Abu Bakar, and Subrata Talukder.

Zillur Rahim, a sergeant at Patiya highway police camp, said the utility vehicle went down the ditch after hitting a tree as the driver lost control over its steering at about 12:30am, leaving the three dead on the spot and two others injured.

The injured people were admitted to Chittagong Medical College Hospital.
