3 ‘robbers’ hurt in ‘gunfight’ with cops in Bogra

Bogra: Three alleged robbers were injured in a ‘gunfight’ with police at Durgapur in Kahalu upazila early Friday.
The injured bandits were Golam Mostafa, 55, Jhantu alias Mintu, 37, and Mozaffar Hossain Bipul, 30.
Tipped off that Mostafa, Mintu and Bipul were taking preparation at Durgapur to commit robbery, a team of police conducted a drive there to arrest them, said Gaziur Rahman, Senior Assistant Superintendent of Police (Media) of Bogra.
Sensing the presence of the law enforcers, the hoodlums opened fire at them forcing police to fire back that triggered a gun battle.
Three robbers suffered bullet wounds in the gunfight. They were taken to hospital under police custody, the police officer said.
Two police constables were also injured in the incident, he said, adding that the law enforcers also recovered some sharp weapons from the spot.
