BPL: Rahmatganj take top spot beating Brothers

Dhaka: Didarul Alam’s late goal took Rahmatganj Muslim Friends Society to the top slot in the points table of the 12-team JB Bangladesh Premier League (BPL) beating Brothers Union Ltd by 4-3 goals in the 10th round match at Bangabandhu National Stadium on Sunday.

With the day’s victory, Rahmatganj collected 22 points from 10 matches while Brothers are in the 7th place with 11 points also from 10 encounters. Chittagong Abahani are on the 2nd position bagging 21 points playing 10 matches.  

Rahmatganj took the lead in the 7th minute with Brothers conceding an own goal by defender Krishna Pada who was trying to clear the ball off an attempt of Congolese forward Siyo Zunapio, but unfortunately the ball went into his own net, 1-0.  

Brothers’s Haitian forward Augustin Walson restored the parity in the 23rd minute curving a free kick from the top of the box, 1-1.  

Brothers took the lead with their Nigerian forward Nkowcha Kingsley’s solo effort in the 28th minute. Kingsley received a ball in the box and turned around to place the ball into the net deceiving Rahmatganj goalie Al Amin, 2-1.  

Nigerian defender Eleta Benjamin leveled the margin for Rahmatganj in the 45th minute, 2-2.  

Rahmatganj went ahead again in the 64th minute with their substitute midfielder Didarul Alam heading home the ball from an unmarked position connecting a curling in the box putted by forward Sohel Mia, 3-2.  

Brothers equalised the score line in the 75th minute with Nkowcha Kingsley’s 2nd goal. Kingsley placed the ball receiving a through pass in the box from substitute midfielder Mokarram, 3-3.  

Didarul Alam scored his 2nd and team’s 4th goal in the stopgap time after 90 minutes that sealed the victory for Rahmatganj. He curved a left-footed from the left flank that deceived Brothers goalie Uttam Barua to crush into the far post net, 4-3.
