PM returns home from BIMSTEC Summit
Dhaka: Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina returned home on Monday morning from Goa, India after joining the BRICS-BIMSTEC Leaders’ Outreach Summit.
The two-day summit ended in Indian southwest state of Goa on Sunday with the theme ‘BRICS-BIMSTEC: A Partnership in Opportunities’.
A VVIP flight of Bangladesh Biman carrying the prime minister and her entourage members landed at Hazrat Shahjalal International Airport in Dhaka at about 10:35am, reports BSS.
Ministers, parliament members and high civil and military officials were present at the airport to receive the prime minister.
Earlier, the prime minister departed Goa Naval Base Airport for home at about 7:10 am (Indian time).
Indian State Minister for External Affairs MJ Akbar, Minister for Science and Technology of Goa Alina Saldanha, Secretary (coordination) of the government of Goa Padma Jaiswal, Bangladesh High Commissioner in New Delhi Syed Moazzem Ali and Deputy High Commissioner of Bangladesh to Mumbai Samina Naz were present at the airport to see Sheikh Hasina off.
At the Goa Naval Base Airport, the Bangladesh premier was given a static guard of honour by members Indian Armed Forces, while artistes displayed local cultural activities in her honour.
Sheikh Hasina attended the BIMSTEC Leaders’ Retreat and BRICS-BIMSTEC Leaders’ Outreach Summit on Sunday.
On the sidelines of the summit, Sheikh Hasina held a bilateral meeting with her Indian counterpart Narendra Modi on Sunday night.
