Dhaka: The government has launched the process for constituting the 9th Wage Board for journalists to ascertain the pay structure for them in line with the new national pay scale.

A meeting in this regard was held at the ministry with Information Minister Hasanul Haq Inu in the chair, a press release of the information ministry on Wednesday said.

PM’s Media Advisor Iqbal Sobhan Chowdhury, Information Secretary Mortuza Ahmed, Joint Secretary (press) of the ministry Mohammad Nurul Islam, President of Bangladesh Federal Union of Journalists (BFUJ) Monjurul Ahsan Bulbul, Secretary General Omar Faruque, President of Dhaka Union of Journalists (DUJ) Saban Mahmud and General Secretary Sohel Haider attended the meeting.

The meeting discussed in detail the matter of formation of the 9^th Wage Board and decided to constitute the board as soon as possible, the release said.

It also discussed the ways for bringing the journalists of electronic media under the wage board framework.
