Jessore: A housewife has been killed allegedly by her husband at Hasadanga village in Monirampur upazila of Jessore for dowry, reports UNB.

Police recovered the body of Mamtaz Begum, 25, wife of Hafizur Rahman of the village, on Friday morning.

Quoting family members, Monirampur Police officer-in-charge Biplab Kumar Nath said Hafizur and Mamtaz had a tiff on Thursday night as Mamtaz failed to fetch Tk 1 lakh as dowry from her father.

At one stage, Hafizur beat Mamtaz to death and hanged the body with the beam of his house before fleeing, he added.

Being informed, police recovered the body and sent it to Jessore Medical College Hospital morgue for autopsy.
