Kushtia: A transport worker was killed in a head-on collision between two trucks at Chowrhash on the Kushtia-Jhenidah Highway in Sadar upazila in Kushtia early on Wednesday.

The deceased is Tanveer Ahmed, in his twenties, a resident of Jhikargaccha upazila in Jessore.

Quoting witnesses, police said a coal-laden truck was waiting in front of Kiam Metal Industries at Chourhash in the morning.

At one stage, a sand-laden truck, coming from the opposite direction, collided head-on with the coal-laden one around 6am, leaving helper Tanveer of the sand-laden truck dead on the spot.

The body was sent to hospital morgue for autopsy.
