A woman and her son were killed in a head-on collision between a pick-up van and a truck at Bijoypasha in Sadar upazila of Gopalganj on early Saturday.

The deceased are Rubia, 35, a resident of Haridaspur village of the upazila, and her son Rifat, 5, reports UNB.

Selim Reza, inspector of Sadar Police Station, said the Gopalganj-bound pick-up van carrying the family from Dhaka collided with the truck coming from opposite direction on Dhaka-Khulna highway in the area at about 5:30am, leaving Rubia and Rifat dead on the spot and Hasibur injured.

The injured was first admitted to Gopalganj Sadar Hospital, and later shifted to Dhaka as his condition deteriorated.
