Canada praises Bangladesh’s fight against religious extremism

Dhaka: Canadian High Commissioner in Dhaka Benoit Pierre Laramee on Monday said Bangladesh’s role in combating ‘religious extremism’ is really commendable.
“We hope Bangladesh will strengthen its cooperation in the future to combat trans-boundary terrorism,” Laramee said at a meeting with Roads Transport and Bridge Minister Obaidul Quader at the Secretariat.
During the meeting, the Canadian envoy said Bangladesh has already achieved a marked progress in women empowerment, poverty reduction, dropout of school children and gender equity, which are also admirable.
Recalling the bilateral friendly relationship between the two countries, Quader said the government is interested to expand trade and business in potential sectors of both Bangladesh and Canada.
He said the two countries can ensure their mutual interest by strengthening their bilateral relationship.
