Faridpur: Two alleged robbers were killed during a firing between two robber gangs over establishing supremacy at Pierpur in Sadar upazila of Faridpur early on Thursday.

The identities of the deceased could not be known yet.

The Kotwali Police officer-in-charge Nazim Uddin said on information that two gangs were exchanging gunfire in Bypass road area, a team of police went to the spot and fired seven rounds of bullets to quell the situation at about 1:00am.

Sensing the presence of the law enforcers, the robbers fled the scene.

Later, police arrested two robbers wounded with bullets and took them to Faridpur Medical College Hospital where doctors declared the duo dead.

Police also recovered a foreign pistol, two bullets and eight hand bombs from the spot.
