5 hurt in BCL infighting at Rangpur Medical College

Rangpur: At least five people were injured during a clash between two factions of Bangladesh Chhatra League (BCL) in Rangpur Medical College over establishing supremacy on Monday night.
Two of the injured are Mahfuzul Haque Talukder Raqib, president of intern doctors’ council, and Russel, a student of year-III. Both of them were admitted to the hospital in critical condition. However, identities of three others could not be known immediately.
Police and witnesses said the incident took place at Shaheed Dr Milon Hostel of the college at about 11:00pm. The BCL activists locked down students into a room of the hostel.
Later, police went to the spot and brought the situation under control. The law enforcers also rescued the students who were locked in the room.
Dhap police post in-charge Sub-inspector Golam Kibria said additional police members were deployed on the spot to avoid further occurrences.
