Four killed in Cox’s Bazar road crash
Cox’s Bazar: Four people, including two women, were killed and 10 others injured as a bus crashed into a utility vehicle on Chittagong-Cox's Bazar Highway at Fashiakhali area of Chakaria upazila in Cox’s Bazar on Friday.
The accident took place on Chittagong-Cox’s Bazar Highway at about 3:00pm.
The deceased were Mohammad Kalu, 42, son of Maktul Hossain of Tajiakata village in Moheshkhali upazila, and his daughter Rina Akhter, 19, and Kala Khatun, 50, wife of Jabur Ahmed of the same area, and Ali Riaz Raihan Khan, 23, son of Ilias Khan of Nijpankhali village of the upazila.
In-charge of Malumghat Highway Police Camp M Ashikur Rahman said the accident occurred when a Cox's Bazar-bound bus from Chittagong hit the human hauler from the opposite direction on the road at Segunbagan near a Bangladesh Army camp, leaving two human haulers passengers Kalu and Ilias dead on the spot and 12 others injured.
The injured were taken to Malumghat Memorial Christian Hospital where doctors declared Rina and Kala declared dead, said the OC.
Chakaria Police Station Officer-in-charge Zahirul Islam said the accident took place when a Saudia Paribahan bus hit a utility vehicle (chander gari) from behind.
