ICT to submit probe report on six suspected Gaibandha war criminals

Dhaka: The investigation agency of the International Crimes Tribunal (ICT) has finalised the probe report on six suspected war criminals of Gaibandha for their alleged involvement in crimes against humanity during the War of Liberation in 1971.

Mohammad Sanaul Hoque, coordinator of the investigation agency, disclosed the information at a press briefing at Dhanmondi in Dhaka on Wednesday morning.

The six suspected war criminals are Mohammad Abdur Jabbar Mandal, Mohammad Jasijar Rahman alias Khoka, Mohammad Abdul Wahed Mandal, Mohammad Montaj Ali Bepari alias Montaj, Mohammad Ajgar Hossain Khan, and Mohammad Ranju Miah.

All of them are residents of Gaibandha Sadar upazila.

The investigation agency finalised four specific charges against the accused that include murder, rape, arson attack and forcing the people to leave the country, Hoque said.

On 12 October, 2015, the ICT investigators started the investigation against the six suspects.

Of the six, police arrested Ranju Miah on 26 May  last while five others are on the run.
