Dhaka: Bangladesh Nationalist Party (BNP) Chairperson Khaleda Zia on Tuesday was seen breaking down in tears and offered fateha at the grave of her younger son Arafat Rahman Koko at Banani Graveyard, marking his second death anniversary.

The BNP chief went to the graveyard in the afternoon and recited from the holy Quran sitting in a chair beside Koko's grave for around half an hour.

Later, she offered fateha there with some relatives and party colleagues and joined a munajat seeking salvation of Koko’s departed soul.

BNP senior leaders, including party secretary general Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir, along with other leaders and activists of the party and its associate bodies were present.

Earlier, Fakhrul together with party leaders and activists also placed wreaths on Koko’s grave around 2:15pm paying homage to him.

They also distributed cooked food and blankets among some poor people near the graveyard.

On January 24, Arafat Rahman Koko died of cardiac arrest at the age of 45 at his rented house in Malaysia. His body was brought back home on January 27 and buried at Banani Graveyard.
