ICT wants charge submission against 14 war crimes suspects Mar 28

Dhaka: The International Crimes Tribunal on Monday asked the prosecution to submit formal charges against 14 war crimes suspects of Bagerhat on March 28.

A two-member bench, led by Justice Shahinur Islam, set the date anew granting a time petition filed the prosecution.

The 14 accused are Abdul Ali Mollah, Khan Ashraf Ali, Khan Akram Hossain, Sultan Ali Khan, Rustam Ali Mollah, Edris Ali Mollah, Moksed Ali Didar, Sheikh Mohammad Ukil Uddin, Sheikh Edris Ali, Rafiqul Islam alias Babul, Moniruzzaman Hawlader, Hashem Ali Sheikh, Azhar Ali Sikder and Mokbul Mollah.

Of them, Akram, Erdis Ali Mollah, Ukil Uddin, Mokbul Mollah and Abdul Ali Mollah are in jail while the rest are absconding, reports UNB.

Tribunal’s investigation agency on January 22 handed over a 1309-page probe report and other documents to the Chief Prosecutor Office of the tribunal.

The ICT, during its investigation that started on June 4, 2015, could primarily prove seven counts of charges against them, who were accused of killing 22 people, including two freedom fighters and torching 200 homes during the war.
