ACC held 3 NU officials on graft charges
Dhaka: The Anti-Corruption Commission (ACC) on Monday arrested three officials of the National University (NU), its proctor, deputy registrar and assistant registrar, in a graft case.
An ACC team, led by its deputy director Morshed Alam, detained NU proctor and deputy registrar MH Tahid Zaman, its assistant registrar Md Siddiqur Rahman and assistant director Mohammad Mofazzal Hossain from Dhaka’s Mirpur area early on Monday, said ACC spokesman Pranab Kumar Bhattacharya.
In 2012, a person filed a case against them with a local police station for allegedly causing a loss of about Tk 1.04crore to the government.
According to the case statement, the accused in collusion with each other provided Selection Grade to a number of NU officials violating government rules, which caused a loss of public money of Tk 1.04 crore.
Later, the case was transferred to the ACC requesting it to conduct a probe against the NU officials. Now, ACC assistant director Fazlul Bari is carrying out a probe into the graft case.
