Dhaka: Jatiya Party chairman HM Ershad on Saturday said his party may float a new political alliance with 10-15 small parties like the ones Awami League and BNP have.

“We’ll field candidates in 300 seats in the next polls. But, some small parties have already contacted us to join a political alliance. So, my door is open, and we’ll form an alliance, if necessary,” he said.

Speaking at a programme at his party’s Banani office, the Jatiya Party chairman further said, “There’re now 14-party and 20-party alliances. We may form a 10-party or 15-party alliance.”

Ershad, a former military ruler, hoped that their party-led alliance will be stronger one to contest the next parliamentary elections. “We hope Jatiya Party will return to power if we can make all-out efforts. We’re going to form the alliance with this aim,” he added.

The Jatiya Party chief urged his party colleagues to work sincerely to make the party sponger and united.
