SC upholds Shawkat Aziz’s bail
The Appellate Division of the Supreme Court on Sunday upheld a High Court order that granted bail to Shawkat Aziz, managing director (MD) of Amber Group in a graft case filed by Anti Corruption Commission (ACC) for plot allotment.
A three-member bench led by Chief Justice S K Sinha passed the order rejecting a petition filed by ACC, reports UNB.
Barrister Rokonuddin Mahmud stood for Russell and Khurshid Alam Khan for ACC.
On February 8, ACC filed the graft case against him involving the allocation of a 10 katha plot of Rajdhani Unnayan Kartripakkha (Rajuk) in Purbachal area in the capital.
The following day, ACC arrested him from Paribagh area.
Following his bail petition, the HC granted three months bail for Shawkat on February 28.
