JMB man gets life term in C’nawabganj arms case
Chapainawabganj: A special court in Chapainawabganj on Tuesday sentenced a member of Jama’atul Mujahideen Bangladesh (JMB) to life term imprisonment for possessing illegal arms.
The lifer is Selim alias Harun Mistri, in his thirties, a resident of Joharpur Bakrir Char in Sadar upazila of the district.
According to the prosecution, members of Rapid Action Battalion (RAB) arrested Selim along with one pistol, two magazines and nine bullets from his village on 7 July, 2009.
According to Selim’s information, the elite force members recovered six one shutter guns and 10 bullets from his house the next day.
Later, sub‐inspector Anwar Hossain of Rab‐5 filed a case against Selim with Sadar Model Police Station.
After examining the records and witnesses, Judge of the Special Court‐2 Ziaur Rahman handed down the verdict.
