Dhaka: Miscreants have issued a written threat to blow up the Australian High Commission in Dhaka.

The Australian High Commission located at Dhaka’s Gulshan-2 area received the threat through a message from an unknown email on Tuesday morning.

Dhaka’s Gulshan Police Station Officer-in-charge Abu Bakar Siddique told NTV Online that the extortion of Tk five lakh is demanded to the high commission through an unknown email in the morning and a written threat is given to blow up the high commission office if it fails to provide the extortion.

The security forces always remain vigilant at Dhaka’s posh diplomatic enclave and more security forces have been beefed up at the high commission after the email threat, added the police officer.

The OC said, ‘None has been arrested yet and we are looking into the matter.’
