Dhaka: A housewife was stabbed to death allegedly by her husband in capital Dhaka's Pallabi area on Friday.

The victim was Helena Akhter, 27, wife of Iman Ali, a day-labourer. The couple had been living at a rented house in the area.

Pallabi Police Station Officer-in-charge Dadan Fakir told news agency UNB that Helena had an altercation with her husband over a trifling matter in the afternoon.

At one stage, Iman stabbed her with a sharp weapon, leaving her critically injured.

Helena was first taken to a local hospital and later shifted to Dhaka Medical College Hospital where doctors declared her dead around 4:45pm, added the OC.

Police arrested Iman over the murder.
