Produce 10 accused serving jail without trial: HC
The High Court on Monday asked the authorities concerned to produce before it 10 accused languishing in different jails for 9-10 years without trial, reports UNB.
As two panel lawyers of the Supreme Court Legal Aid Committee brought the matter to court’s notice, two HC benches in suo moto orders also sought documents of cases filed against them.
They also issued rules asking the authorities concerned to explain as to why the accused should not be granted bail.
Of them, five staying in Mymensingh Central Jail will have to be produced before the court on May 29 while the rest on June 1.
Of the latter five, three accused are in Rajshahi Central Jail and one each is in Munshiganj and Manikganj district jails.
Of them, nine are accused in murder cases while the other one was sued under the Women and Children Repression Prevention Act.
