Man charged with attempted murder as maid falls from building
Dhaka: A female domestic help was critically injured after falling from the seventh floor of a building in an apparent murder attempt at Poribagh area of Dhaka’s Shahbagh in Friday night.
The injured, Rahima Akhter Baby, in her thirties, was admitted to Dhaka Medical College Hospital (DMCH) at about 11:00pm.
Being informed, Baby’s younger brother, Shukkur Ali, a resident of the village of Adhakhola at Rajapur upazila in Jhalokathi, came to Dhaka.
Shukkur Ali said Baby used to work at the house of Saleh Ahamed in Poribagh’s Diganta Apartment for last 16 days. Baby has two children and was divorced from her husband.
Baby’s brother claimed the house owner beat his sister and pushed her down from the veranda of seventh-floor. He also pressed attempted murder charges against the house owner.
Shukkur Ali said Baby cut off contacts with her family after started working at Saleh Ahmed’s house. The house owner did not let her to communicate with family members. They also found Baby’s mobile phone number switched off on the day.
However, our correspondent could not reach Saleh Ahmed for getting his reaction in this connection.
Shahbagh police Officer-in-charge Abul Hassan said police is investigating the incident.
