Dhaka: A police officer of Badda Police Station reportedly killed himself after shooting his partner to death in his Rupnagar residence in capital Dhaka on Saturday afternoon.

The deceased were Sub-Inspector Abdus Sattar, 35, and a woman, Suma, said to be his wife, although this is contentious.

Being informed, SI Mamun of Rupnagar police station retrieved the duo with bullet injuries from a flat of Road no-22 of Rupnagar residential area in the evening and rushed them to Dhaka Medical College Hospital where doctors declared them dead at around 8:30 pm.

Contacted, Deputy Commissioner (Media) of Dhaka Metropolitan Police (DMP) Masudur Rahman said SI Sattar allegedly shot his 'so called wife' dead and then he might be committed suicide with his firearms at around 5:00 pm.

Family dispute might be main reason behind the incidence. The incident took place around 5pm, he added.

Police sources said SI Sattar joined Badda police station after he was promoted as SI from ASI last year. Suma was his second wife, and sister of his first nwife, with whom he also had a child. Later, he reportedly married Suma, his sister-in-law, following an affair.

Earlier, he served as ASI of Pallabi police station one and a half years ago. Later, he was posted in Dar us Salam police station and then Shah Ali Police station before being promoted as SI recently, said Officer-in-Charge of Pallabi Police station Daddan Fakir.
