CA delegation satisfies on BCB’s security measures

Dhaka: The five-member security delegation of Cricket Australia (CA) has expressed their satisfaction over security measures taken by Bangladesh cricket Board (BCB) ahead of Australia's Test tour to Bangladesh in the next month.

"After inspecting the overall measures for the last few days, we have found the overall security arrangements satisfactory. We submit the report to the board after returning home," Australia cricket team manager Gavin Dovey said to press on Thursday after visiting Zahur Ahmed Chowdhury Stadium (ZACS) in Chittagong.

Gavin Dovey also praised Bangladesh cricket team saying "They (Bangladesh) are now a strong opponent and doing batter than before."

The security delegation, headed by the CA anti-corruption and security manager Sean Carroll, spent around one hour on Thursday morning to complete their inspection at ZACS.

They also visited the team hotel in Chittagong and had a meeting with the officials there.

Later, the CA delegation sat a meeting with the officials of the local law enforcing agencies.

The delegation is scheduled to leave for Australia on Thursday night.

Arriving on Monday night last, the CA representatives visited the Sher-e-Bangala National Cricket Stadium in Mirpur and Khan Saheb Osman Ali Stadium in Fatullah before leaving for Chittagong on Wednesday noon.

CA team operations senior manager Adam Fraser, CA Men's Cricket Team security manager Frank Dimasi and Australian Cricketers' Association official Nicholas Charles Palliser Courtney are the other three members of the delegation.

Though the pay dispute between CA and ACA got worsened as the Australia's senior players have voted to boycott the next month's tour of Bangladesh unless their long-running pay dispute with CA settled down before the series, both the BCB and CA are still optimistic about two-match Test series.

The visit of the Australian delegation for checking security arrangements and other logistic facilities indeed keeps Bangladesh hopeful despite all odds.

Steve Smith-led Australian side is scheduled to arrive in Bangladesh on August 18 for a two-Test series in Dhaka and Chittagong, but the tour is still pending on the resolution of Australian cricket's pay dispute which started with the expiration of the most recent Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) on July 1.
