Child abduction case accused killed in Keraniganj ‘gunfight'

Keraniganj: The main accused in child Parag abduction case in Keraniganj, Moktar Hossain alias Langra Amir, was killed in a reported gunfight in Mirerbagh area of South Keraniganj in the early hours of Tuesday, claimed police.

The Keraniganj police Officer-in-charge (OC) Monirul Islam told NTV Online being tipped off a gang of criminal was planning to commit sabotage; a team of police conducted a drive in the area around 2:00am.

Sensing the presence of law enforcers, the terrorist gang opened fire on police, prompting them to retaliate that triggered a gunfight.

At one stage, Amir was caught in the line of fire and died on the spot while his associates managed to flee the scene.

The OC said on Tuesday morning Moktar Hossain alias Langra Amir was accused in several cases including murder and extortion. The law enforcers were trying to catch him for a long time.

Amir’s body was sent to Sir Salimullah Medical College Hospital for autopsy.

Earlier, he received bullet injuries in a gunfight with police in 2014.
