AL expresses stance over 16th amendment to president
Dhaka: Amid criticism and controversy over the verdict on the appeal petition filed to scratch 16th amendment, Awami League General Secretary Obaidul Quader visited Bangbhaban and expressed his party’s stance to President Abdul Hamid.
Earlier, President’s press secretary Joynal Abedin told NTV Online ‘Awami League General Secretary Obaidul Quader visited Bangabhaban at about 12:30pm. Obaidul Quader left the president’s residence at about 1:15pm. He sat for a talk with the president.’
After meeting the president, Obaidul Quader told the journalist, I have informed my party’s stance over 16th amendment of the constitutions to President Abdul Hamid.
President Abdul Hamid hosted a programmed at Bangabhaban for the Hindu community, marking Janmashtami, the birth of Lord Krishna. Minister of Religious Affair Motiur Rahman, Chief Justice Surendra Kumar Sinha, Indian High Commissioner to Bangladesh Harsh Vardhan Shringla were present during the programme.
