DU students, teachers protest Rohingya persecution

Dhaka: Dhaka University teachers, students and employees on Tuesday formed a human chain protesting Rohingya persecution and demanding the Myanmar's authority to take them back to their country.
Under the banner of Dhaka University family more than one thousand teachers, students and employees participated in the one-hour human chain from 11:00am to 12:00pm on the campus.
Addressing the programme, DU acting Vice Chancellor Prof Md Akhtaruzzaman said, "We want formation of international investigation committee about persecution on Rohingyas and punishment of those involved in mass killing there," he added.
"UN should send peacekeeping force to Mynmar and take quick steps for resolution of Rohingya crisis,"he said.
DU Treasurer Prof Dr. Md. Kamal Uddin, President of Dhaka University Teachers Association (DUTA) Prof Dr. ASM Maksud Kamal, Dean of Science Faculty Prof. Md. Abdul Aziz, Shamsun Nahar Hall provost Prof. Supriya Saha also spoke.
