Dhaka: The second day's third session of 34-over cost Bangladesh's three wickets to collect 127 runs, at stumps, after opening the first innings replying to South Africans 496/3-d in the first Test at Senwes Park in Potchefstroom on Friday.

Mominul Haque (28*) and Tamim Iqbal (22*), came at the crease to take an unusual number five position instead of his opening role, were at the crease when the bails were drawn for the day.

Skipper Mushfiqur Rahim scored 44 off 57 balls, including 7 boundaries and one six, before being caught by Aiden Markram off Keshav Maharaj, leaving team collection at 103/3 in 25.1 overs.

Liton Kumar Das (25 off 29b; 4x4) was caught by Hashim Amla off Morne Morkel at 36/2 in 10.2 overs from where Mushfiqur started his innings.

Bangladesh faced the first jolt losing opening batsman Imrul Kayes (7), was caught by Aiden Markram off Kagiso Rabada, at 16/1 in 5.4 overs.

Kagiso Rabada, Morne Morkel and Keshav Maharaj took one wicket each for 23, 34 and 38 runs respectively.

Earlier, South Africa declared the 1st innings 496/3-d against Bangladesh after tea on day 2.

South Africa resumed the 1st innings with overnight score of 298/1 in 90 overs and raised their tally to 496/3 in 146 overs before declared the innings that spurred by the overnight 2nd pair stand of 215 in 63.5 overs between two centurions Dean Elgar and Hashim Amla.

Elgar's 9th Test century saw an innings of 199 off 388 balls, including 15 boundaries and 3 sixes, while overnight Amla stayed for 137 off 200 balls, including 17 boundaries and one six.

Temba Bavuma (31* off 87b; 2x4; 1x6) and skipper Faf du Plessis (26* off 49b; 4x4) were at the crease in the 4th stand when the bails drawn for tea break.

The Tigers bowling efforts got lights of relief capturing South Africans two wickets Elgar and Amla in the 2nd session on day 2 in the 1st innings.

Tigers pacers Shafiul Islam made the breakthrough in the 3rd ball just after the resume of the 2nd session at 411/2 in 117.3 overs dismissing experienced Hashim Amla, was caught by Mehedi Hasam Miraz, who completed his 27th Test century in the innings.

Mustafizur Rahman disheartened Elgar at Proteas collection of 445/3 in 130.2 overs as the overnight centurion was caught by Mominul Haque just one run before to reach a double century.

Shafiul Islam and Mustafizur Rahman took one wicket each for 74 and 98 runs respectively.
