BNP to sit in the evening to discuss CJ leave

Dhaka: In the wake of Chief Justice Surendra Kumar Sinha’s month-leave on health grounds amid a row over the cancellation of the 16th constitutional amendment, BNP senior leaders is going to sit in an emergency meeting on Tuesday evening.
The meeting will be held at BNP chairperson Khaleda Zia’s Gulshan office, said party senior joint secretary general Ruhul Kabir Rizvi at a press conference at the party’s Nayapaltan central office.
He said pro-BNP senior lawyers will also be present at the meeting.
Sought his comment over the Chief Justice’s leave, Rizvi said their party will come up with a formal reaction to it after an elaborate discussion on it at the senior leaders’ meeting.
President Abdul Hamid made Justice Md Abdul Wahhab Miah, the senior most judge of the Appellate Division of the Supreme Court, the acting Chief Justice as Sinha went on leave.
On Monday, Law Minister Anisul Huq said Sinha was going one month’s leave from Tuesday on health grounds.
