Dhaka: Bangladesh Nationalist Party (BNP) Chairperson Khaleda Zia on Tuesday strongly denounced and protested the gun attack on a concert in Las Vegas of the USA that left 59 people killed and hundreds more wounded.

In a statement, she said, "The colour of terrorists across the world is the same. They're the enemies of humanity. They're stabbing the civilisation all over the world to destroy democracy, devolved society, culture, the achievement and progress of the humankind."

Khaleda Zia also described the extremists as mentally sick persons and urged all to get united to stop their heinous and brutal activities.

The BNP chief said the local and international networks of terrorists will have to be destroyed. "I call upon international community to take effective steps to this end."

She expressed her profound shock over the huge casualties in the terror attack and conveyed her deep sympathy to the bereaved family members and the people of the USA.

Khaleda Zia prayed for eternal peace of the departed souls and wished early recovery of the injured.

She said the people of Bangladesh and her party and she herself are there beside the people of the USA at this critical time.

At least 59 people were killed and another 527 injured in a mass shooting at a Las Vegas concert by a gunman, named as 64-year-old Nevada resident Stephen Paddock.

He opened fire from the 32nd floor of the Mandalay Bay Hotel towards an open-air music festival attended by 22,000.
