President calls for proper household data collection

Dhaka: President Abdul Hamid on Monday urged the people involved in the households data collection to gather necessary information cordially and honestlyfrom the citizens so that the real picture is depicted, reports the UNB.

Saying that households’ survey play a vital role to ensure proper service delivery to mass people, the president sought all-out cooperation from all to ensure providing real informationto make the ongoing National Household Database a success.

He came up with the remarks as he filled up a form of household data at Bangabhaban as part of the data collection programme under the 2nd phase of the National Household Database (NHD) projectundertaken by the Bangladesh Bureau of Statistics (BBS).

Referring the necessity of this programme, Abdul Hamid said this data collection is very urgent to ensure actual citizens’ benefits under the various social safety net coverageprovided by the government, said President’s Press Secretary Md Joynal Abedin quoting the President.

Data collection under the 2nd phase of the NHD project started on January 14 in 25 districts this year as part of the government’s bid to prepare an integrated databaseon socio-economic conditions of people through direct interviewing. This data collection would continue till February 2.

Secretary of Statistics and Informatics Division AKM Mozammel Haque and concerned secretaries to the President were present.
