Lucknow, India: A 40-year-old woman died on Sunday in Uttar Pradesh after she was allegedly brutally beaten up by at least six men for resisting rape.

The horrific incident happened on Saturday night in Kotwali area in UP’s Pratapgarh when the six accused allegedly barged into the woman’s house and attempted to rape her.

The police said that six men barged into the victim’s home, where she lived alone, on Saturday night. They then tried to allegedly rape her. When she protested, they reportedly beat her up with rods, leaving her severely injured and profusely bleeding.

On hearing her shout and scream, her neighbours went to check and were shocked to see her lying in a pool of blood with most body parts disjointed.

Reports say the neighbours also called the police after which she was rushed to the SRN Medical College in Allahabad for treatment.

After fighting for her life for hours, the victim gave up on Sunday morning and breathed her last.

Reports say that the police have arrested two people in connection with the heinous crime. Investigation is underway and police are on the lookout for the remaining accused.
