The first batch of mortal remains of the US-Bangla Airlines flight crash victims is expected to be repatriated here on Tuesday subjected to the completion of identification and other formalities including rituals in Nepal.

The post mortem of all the 49 victims including 26 of Bangladesh was completed in Kathmandu on Friday, said the foreign ministry here.

A coordination committee is needed to be formed for repatriation of the deceased and receiving of the mortal remains at the airport, it added, reports the UNB.

The team will be formed with representatives from the Civil Aviation Authority, Bangladesh Police, Customs, Ministry of Disaster Management and the Ministry of Foreign Affairs.

Officials from the foreign ministry will coordinate the handing over process at Hazrat Shahjalal International Airport, it added.

DNA tests of the mortal remains will also be required. In that case three weeks will be required to complete the whole process subjected to timely receipt of DNA samples from relatives, said the ministry.

Regarding transportation, US-Bangla airlines promised to carry the remains. All cost of services will be borne by US Bangla. They have conveyed that a Boeing 737-800 will be arranged for this purpose.

So far a total of four survived passengers were taken to Dhaka while another was sent to Singapore for better treatment.

Of them Shahreen Ahmed, Almun Nahar Annie, Saiyada Kamrunahar Shwarna and Mehedi Hasan were admitted to hospitals here. Rezwanul Haque has been sent to Singapore for better treatment.

On March 12, at least 49 people, including 26 Bangladeshis, died as an aircraft of US-Bangla Airlines from Dhaka to Kathmandu crashed at Tribhuvan International Airport in the capital of Himalayan country of Nepal.
