Dhaka: The 51st convocation of Dhaka University will be held on October 6 (Saturday).

A preparatory meeting was held at Nabab Nawab Ali Chowdhury Senate Bhaban on Wednesday with DU Vice chancellor Prof Md Akhtaruzzaman in the chair.

An executive committee, a managing committee and 26 sub-committees have been formed to hold the convocation properly.

The VC urged all concerned to perform their respective duty properly to ensure smooth holding of the convocation.

Name of Liberian Nobel Peace Prize Laureate Leymah Gbowee has been proposed as the convocation speaker.

A decision has also been taken to confer him ‘Doctor of Laws’ degree at the convocation.
