Chattogram: Three people were killed while two others injured in separate incidents of lightning strike in Banshkhali and Sandwip upazilas in the district on Saturday.

The deceased were identified as Latun Barua, 55, Porikkhit Jal Das, 35, and Bikash Jal Das, 36.

Officer-in-charge of Bashkhali Police Station Md Salauddin Hira said Latun died on the spot when a thunderbolt hit him while walking on the road in Banshkhali municipality area.

Meanwhile, sub-inspector Helal Khan of Sandwip Police Station said two fishermen- Porikkhit and Bikash--were killed and two others injured as lighting hit them while fishing in Banglabazar area of Banshkhali.

The injured were taken to the Upazila Health Complex, he added.
