Keraniganj: Inspector General of Police (IGP) Dr Javed Patwary on Friday said the passengers’ pressure at Sadarghat Launch Terminal is ‘normal’ ahead of the Eid.

The IGP came up with the remarks while talking to reporters after visiting the capital’s lone launch terminal around 11:15 am.

Referring to the mad rush of homebound people at the terminal, the police chief, however, said a bit pressure has been created at the terminal as most of the garment factories allowed leave for their workers on Thursday.

Earlier, he requested the garment factory owners to provide leave in phases to avoid heavy rush for homebound people.

Meanwhile, huge crowd was seen at the terminal since Thursday, forcing the authorities concerned to put the collapsible gate of the terminal locked. Later, they allowed passengers in phases to enter.

Hundreds of people were seen stranded on the terminal over the night due to shortage of launches.

However, the passengers who spent overnight there have left the terminal on Friday morning.

A total of 65 launces left Sadarghat in 24 hours till Friday morning while some 120 more will set for the journey till evening.
