Dhaka: Appreciating the professional and trained armed forces for their role in national development and its security, President Abdul Hamid on Sunday said every officer of the Armed Forces must look forward to the development of ever-changing war tactics and information technology to achieve professionalism.
He made the remarks at the graduation ceremony of National Defence course and Armed Forces War Course (AFWC) 2018 of the National Defence College (NDC) in the city, reports the UNB.
‘A professional and trained armed force is extremely important for the national development and its security. To achieve professionalism, you must look forward to the development of ever-changing war-tactics and information technology,’ the President said.
President Hamid further said, ‘The spread of technology is also increasing the level of cybercrime. You need to know about the use of information technology and its applications deeply. So, the government is implementing Forces Goal 2030 aiming to ensure the modernisation of the Armed Forces to increase the ability to deal with the versatile challenges of the 21st Century.’
Describing Bangladesh as a bright example of development in the world, the President said the government has set an example of outstanding development in the socio-economic aspects of the country with the spirit of the Liberation War and the ideology of Bangabandhu.
‘… Bangladesh is now marching forward by following the Vision 2021, Vision 2041 and Delta Plan 2100. However, there are many challenges towards with the journey of success. I believe, you’ll be able to contribute a lot more to the country’s overall development by tackling these challenges efficiently by using the latest training and experience,’ Hamid added.
He said, ‘Members of the Armed Forces have been able to gain the people’s love and confidence by protecting the independence and sovereignty of the country as well as standing beside people in any natural disaster.’
The President hoped that the Armed Forces will always maintain the highest level of expertise and professionalism what they have earned through their professionalism.
Congratulating the course members for their extraordinary achievements in completing the National Defence Course, the President said, ‘During your year-long stay in Bangladesh, I believe, you have acquired invaluable knowledge and experience which will enlighten you in the days to come. Apart from your routine programme with your peers from Bangladesh, you have made a warm social bonding and friendship beyond a professional relationship.’
He added, ‘Since your arrival in Bangladesh, I believe, you’ve received the traditional hospitality and culture of our land which has reflected the true love of our country and its people. It’s my conviction that you’ll be the good-will ambassadors of Bangladesh upon returning to your respective country from here. I wish you all every success in the coming days.’
The chief of the three services, members of parliament, foreign diplomats, commandants, faculties of the NDC were present at the programme. 

A total of 76 NDC officers including 23 allied officers and 35 AFWC officers received the award and graduation certificate.

Commandant of NDC Lieutenant General Sheikh Mamun Khaled delivered the inaugural speech.
