Election violence: One more dies at DMCH

Dhaka: A young man who sustained bullet injury in firing on the eve of the voting in the national election in Barura upazila of Cumilla on Sunday died at Dhaka Medical College Hospital in the capital on Monday.
The deceased was identified as Sakhawat Hossain, 21, of the upazila, reports the UNB.
With this, the death toll from the election violence has reached 18.
DMCH police outpost in-charge Md Bachchu Mia said three people who received bullet wounds in the incident early Sunday were admitted to the hospital.
Of them, Sakhawat succumbed to his injuries in the morning, he said.
Victim’s brother Iman Hossain said their house is situated by the Adda Degree College polling station.
Some villagers, including his brother, rushed to the polling centre in the early hours of Sunday after hearing an announcement of a fire incident at the polling station.
Three people suffered bullet injuries as some miscreants fired gunshots on them, he said.
