Noakhali: A suspected thief was killed in a lynch mob-attack at Char Uria village in Sadar upazila early Saturday.

The identity of the deceased could not be known yet, reports the UNB.

Anwar Hossain, officer-in-charge of Sadar Police Station, said the a gang of thieves swooped on the house of one Malek of the village around 3 am.

Sensing presence of the thieves, local people encircled the house and managed to catch one of the thieves while the others managed to flee.

Later, local people gave the ‘thief’ a good thrashing, leaving him critically injured.

He was taken to Noakhali General Hospital where doctors declared him dead.
