Chattogram: An ethnic girl reportedly committed suicide by hanging herself at Khulshi in the city on Saturday night.

The deceased was identified as Owain Ching, 23, daughter of Onshui Marma, hailing from Betbunia in Rangamati, and was a tenant of ‘Syed Tower’ at Road no. 1, block-C of Khulshi road. She was an employee of Bangladesh Railway.

The girl informed one of her friends Brishti over messenger before committing suicide, said Sheikh Md Nasir Uddin, officer-in-charge of Khulshi Police Station, quoting victim’s friend Anny.

Later, she rushed there and found Owain Ching hanging, said the OC.

On information, police recovered the body.
