IT sub centres to be set up at enclaves in Lalmonirhat

Lalmonirhat: Information Technology (IT) sub-centre will be set up at 59 now-defunct enclaves in Lalmonirhat aiming to reach internet-based services to the door steps of the people, officials sources said.
‘People in the rural areas are now enjoying the benefit of ICT-based public and private services through digital information centres and now we are taking initiatives to bring inhabitants of now-defunct enclaves dwellers in Lalmonirhat under internet facilities,’ Project Director of Access to Information (a2i) Programme Kabir Bin Anwar told the opening ceremony of 120 no enclave at Patgram here on Thursday.
Lalmonirhat Deputy Commissioner Md Habibur Rahman, Patgram Upazila Chairman Md Ruhul Amin and officials of local administration, among others, were present at the ceremony.
Patgram upazila administration sources said there are 59 now-defunct enclaves in three upazils - Lalmonirhat Sadar, Hatibandha and Patgram.
The government is taking all necessary measures to reach ICT-based services to the door steps of the people like other regions of the country, sources said.
In line with its plan to build Digital Bangladesh as chartered out in the 'Vision-2021', the government put thrust on the use of ICT for improving productivity, governance, service delivery and on the development of IT industry.
As many as 4,547 Union Digital Centres (UDCs), 321 municipality digital centres and 401 ward digital centres under city corporations have been set up to supplement the efforts for building digital Bangladesh.
