Dhaka: Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB) on Tuesday announced local conglomerate Walton as the title sponsor for the upcoming Bangladesh-Australia two-match Test series.

The announcement came at a press conference at Sher-e-Bangla National Cricket Stadium in Mirpur.

Walton is currently the title sponsor of the 17th National Cricket League (NCL), first class cricket league. The company earlier sponsored a bilateral series between Bangladesh and West Indies in 2011.

The Australian team will depart for Bangladesh on 28 September. Steve

Smith will lead the visiting side as the first-ever full-time assignment for him as a captain.

Cricket giant Australia will begin their campaign here with a three-day warm-up match against a BCB XI at Khan Saheb Osman Ali Stadium in Fatullah on October 3-5, following a four-day training session at Bangladesh National Cricket Academy (BNCA) from 29 September.

The visitors will play the first Test at Zohur Ahmed Chowdhury Stadium in Chittagong from 9 to 13 October before heading to Dhaka for the second Test at Sher-e-Bangla National Cricket Stadium in Mirpur from 17 to 21 October.

Australia have previously toured Bangladesh for a Test series just once, in 2006, when they played two Tests in Fatullah and Chittagong.

Australia have won all 4 of the Tests played between the two sides so far.
