Zimbabwe beat BCB XI

Fatullah: Visiting Zimbabwe notched a 7-wicket victory against BCB XI in the only warm-up match, ahead of their main battle of three-match ODI series against Bangladesh national cricket team, at the Khan Saheb Osman Ali Stadium in Fatullah on Thursday.  

Sent in to bat first, BCB XI started well as their opening fraternity between Imrul Kayes and Anamul Haque contributed 105 runs in 19.3 overs on their way to a moderate 277 for 8 in 50 overs.  

Bangladesh Test skipper Mushfiqur Rahim spurred BCB XI scoring team highest unbeaten 81 off 84 balls with five fours and two sixes.  

Apart from his individual score, Mushfiq pairing with Shahriar Nafees contributed 90 runs in 13 overs in the 5th wicket stand.

After Shahriar Nafees, no one could stay long with Mushfiq to post a big score.  

Imrul Kayes scored 56 runs off 64 balls with five fours and two sixes while Anamul Haque hit 52 runs off 61 balls with seven fours and one six.  

Nafees scored run-a-ball 38 with four and one six while Liton Kumar Das added 25 runs.  

Luke Mafuwa Jongwe and Alexander Graeme Cremer grabbed three wickets each for economic 20 and 21 runs respectively bowling five overs a piece.  

Zimbabwe stunned BCB XI scoring 281 for 3 in 46.4 overs, spurred by Craig Ervine’s 95 off 99 balls with nine fours and one six.  

BCB XI sent Zimbabwean two top order batsmen -- CJ Chibhabha and R Mutumbami -- back for team’s 51 runs in 11.3 overs, but the 3rd wicket pair between Craig Ervine and Sean Williams repaired the damage contributing 125 runs in 21.3 overs, before SC Williams retired hurt at 176/2 in 33 overs.  

Zimbabwe skipper Elton Chigumbura and Sikandar Raza sealed the win contributing unbeaten 68 runs in 7.2 overs in the 4th wicket stand.  

E Chigumbura’s unbeaten 64 runs came off 49 balls involving four fours and three six while SC Williams retired hurt scoring 54 runs off 59 balls with five fours and one six.  

CJ Chibhabha and Sikandar Raza added 33 and not out 22 runs respectively.  

Sunzamul Islam grabbed two wickets for 70 runs in 10 overs while Shafiul Islam took another wicket conceding 47 runs in 9 overs.  

The visitors will face Bangladesh in their 1st ODI of the three-match series on November 7 at Sher-e-Bangla National Cricket Stadium in Mirpur.  

The remaining two ODIs of the day-night basis series will be held on 9 and 11 November at the same venue.
