Bangladesh all-rounder Shakib Al Hassan becomes a proud father for the first time.

His wife Shishir gave birth to a baby girl on local time Sunday night in the United States.

Earlier, on Bangladesh time about 9:00pm, Shakib left for the United States to welcome the new addition to Shakib-Shishir family.

Shakib’s departure came a day after Bangladesh took a 1-0 lead in the three-match ODI series beating visiting Zimbabwe in the first ODI held on Saturday.

The Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB) on Sunday issued a press release which said all-rounder Shakib Al Hasan has been released from the national squad for the series against Zimbabwe due to a family emergency. The BCB takes this opportunity to extend the very best wishes to the couple. 

Opening batsman Anamul Hoque Bijoy has been named as Shakib’s replacement in the squad, the release added.

The all-rounder tied the knot with Umme Ahmed Shishir 12 December 2012.
