Tamim, Imrul help Bangladesh score 276
Dhaka: The opening fraternity of 147 runs between dashing opener Tamim Iqbal and Imrul Kayes enabled Bangladesh to post a 277 runs target against visiting Zimbabwe in the 3rd and last ODI of the three-match series at Sher-e-Bangla National Cricket Stadium on Wednesday.
Opening the bat first after winning the toss, Bangladesh scored 276 for 9 in 50 overs.
Bangladesh started their innings in a style with their opening stand for 147 runs in 29.3 overs, before Imrul was stumped by Regis Chakabva off a Sikandar Raza bowling.
Imrul was out for 73 off 95 balls featuring six fours and four sixes.
After Imrul, Mushfiqur Rahim came to pair with Tamim, but the opener hurried to finish also scored a 73 off 98 balls involving seven fours and one six at teams 173 for 2 in 34.2 overs.
The Tigers’ lost their rhythm of game as the Bangladesh Test skipper Mushfiq (28 off 25b; 3x4) followed Tamim carrying the team total to 190 for 3 in 37.5 overs.
Tamim and Mushfiq were also stumped by RW Chakabva off AG Cremer and MN Waller bowling respectively.
The World Cup hero, for his back to back century for Bangladesh, Mahmudullah Riyad performed a bit better in the match scoring 52 off 40 balls with five fours and one six before he was fell victim of run out at 275 for 8 in 49.5 overs.
Mahmudullah tried best to set the game rhythm pairing with skipper Mashrafe Bin Mortaza, but Mashrafe (16 off 11b; 3x4) was bowled by Tinashe Panyangara.
The 7th pair contributed 37 runs in 4 overs to carry the team total to 263 for 7 in 48 overs.
Earlier after Mushfiq, Liton Kumar Das (17 off 22b; 1x4) who had a chance to show his worth after successive dismal performances in the last two matches was caught by Masakadza off AG Cremer bowling leaving the team total at 222/4 in 42.2 overs.
Sabbir Rahman was out for a single, caught by AG Cremer off LM Jongwe bowling. Cremer and Jongwe combination dismissed pinch hitter Nasir Hossain in the same way for a duck when scoreboard showing for Bangladesh 226 for 6 in 44 overs.
Arafat Sunny added not out 3 while Mustafizur Rahman was out for a single.
LM Jongwe and AG Cremer grabbed two wickets each for 50 and 53 runs respectively in 9 and 10 overs.
MN Waller, Sikandar Raza and T Panyangara took one wicket each conceding 24, 48 and 49 runs respectively.
