'Unprecedented' security for Socceroos
Dhaka: A top class security will be provided to Australian football team during their brief stay in Dhaka to play FIFA World Cup Qualifying round second leg match scheduled to be held on Tuesday at 5:30pm at the Bangabandhu National Stadium.
Football governing body FIFA, AFC enlisted security officer and DIG Sheikh M Maruf Hasan informed it to the pressmen at a press conference held on Monday at the Bangladesh Football Federation conference room.
The Asian champions and four time World cup playing Australian Football team arrived in Dhaka on Monday evening in their first-ever visit to Bangladesh to play the FIFA World Cup/Asia Cup Qualifiers against Bangladesh.
The Australian Football team reached the capital from Singapore amid tight security and they will leave Dhaka on Tuesday night after playing the match.
Maruf said two tier security has been arranged in inside and outside of the airport during the time of Socceroos's arrival while the team will be given four tiers of security from airport to team hotel Westin in Gulshan.
The two security cars behind and ahead will escort the bus carrying the Australian players while plan cloth security teams will remain alert at the different intersections of the road from airport to team hotel, the officer added.
Besides, the whole stadium will be wrapped up with top security on the match day and it will be visible and invisible both, plain clothed security officials in inside and outside of the stadium, he added.
The AFC security officer said they are confident of a cool and calm atmosphere.
The spectators will be allowed in the stadium only with cell phone. The gate will be open for the spectators three hours before start of the match.
Earlier in the first leg, Australia dumped Bangladesh by 5-0 goals.
